Melasma Treatments

What is Melasma?

Melasma is a brown discolouration on the face, most common on the cheeks and forehead, but sometimes appearing around the lips and on the chin. Melasma can be triggered by irritants being applied to the skin (including beauty products), exposure to sunlight and hormonal changes. The condition is commonly associated with pregnancy and contraceptive pills, but this may not be the underlying reason.

Treatment

A Q-switched laser is used to target the pigment or melanin present in the Melasma, without impacting the surrounding area. The laser fragments the pigment, giving you smooth and even skin tone.
